during foreign tour of India, USA, Singapore and the Middle East

23rd August 2013] : Acclaimed designer Nida
Azwer has announced her label’s participation ina series of international
fashion events featuring the launch of the brand’s new collections, fashion
shows and exhibitions across India, USA, Singapore and the Middle East in the firsthalf
of Autumn/Winter season 2013.
From 22nd to 26th
August 2013, Nida Azwerwill show case her ensembles
across the border in Delhi with an exhibition of the brand’s “Willam Morgan and
Morris” and Eid Collections, along with other designers from Pakistan. The five
days exhibition will be held at Crescent
Mall, New Delhi, India and will be open from 11:00am to 7:00pm.
Further, the label will
be participating in Fashion Pakistan USA 2013 scheduled to be held on 31st
August 2013 in New York where the label will debuting their new formal wear
collection titled "Kashani.” The collection is inspired by the floral and
figurative tile work reflective of the Mughal period. The new line incorporates
varied shirt lengths which include classic kurtas to Nida’s signature
angharka's and flowy coats. Nida has used fabrics such as silks, chiffons and
maisuri featuring fine zardozi, resham and kamdani work. The exhibited
collection will also be available at the brand’s Lahore and Karachi stores.
Fashion Pakistan USA will be followed by 2 two day exhibitions in New Jersey and
Los Angeles each where the designers will be retailing the collections
exhibited earlier in New Delhi and New York.
Speaking about her
brand’s international tour, designer Nida Azwer said, “The success of platforms such as Pakistan Fashion Week and PFDC
Sunsilk Fashion Week have created heightened exposure for local designers who
are now being approached by international fashion councils and associations to
participate in their global exhibitions.It's good to know that Pakistani
fashion is resonating well with the international fashion community and that
the demand for Pakistani fashion is strong in international markets. The Nida
Azwer brand has a busy two months ahead of it but I’m sure it will be a
productive and eye-opening experience!”
Later in September, the
label will be participating in two fashion shows; one in Chicago being held on
the 6th of September with the other being the Ishq-e-Fashion show in
Singapore on 14th September 2013. At the Chicago show, the brand
will be introducing its new Eid collection titled “Wazir Khan Collection” in
time for Eid-ul-Adha. Inspired by Persian artworks, the collection will feature
numerous digital and screen printed tunics, jumpsuits
and angharka's in fun and vibrant colour palettes on luxe fabrics such as
cottonnet, chiffons and silks. For this particular collection, the designer has
introduced laser cutting techniques with slight embellishments to inculcate a
festive feeling in the outfits. This collection will also be available at the
brand’s retail stores by the end of September 2013.
At Ishq-e-Fashion
Singapore, the brand will be showcasing a new pret wear collection titled "The
Rangeen Collection”, encompassing a fresh colour palette featuring fresh pastel
pinks, vibrant tones of pinks and oranges highlighted with accents of green and
blue. The collection will predominately consist of varying lengths of shirts in
cottonnet, chiffons and silks and will be available in all Nida Azwer outlets from
15thSeptember onward. The brand will also hold an exhibition in
Dubai on 1st October 2013.
About the Nida Azwer Atelier:
Nida Azwer has been designing and working in fashion under the aegis of her eponymous label since 2005, only one month after she graduated from the prestigious Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture. Her label includes a Prêt a Porter line, Haute Couture and Bridal lines. Nida herself was nominated for the coveted Lux Style Award for Best Emerging Talent in 2008 and won the Best Designer Award at the Nesvita Women of Strength Awards in 2009. The same year Nida held her debut solo show in Karachi, featuring both prêt a porter and haute couture to the acclaim of press, fashionistas and industry stalwarts alike.
Nida Azwer’s label has come to be recognised for the designers’ love of more classic and vintage design elements infused with traditional crafts such as ‘tukri ka kaam’, ‘rilli’, ‘kantha’, ‘zardozi’ and ‘miniature embroidery’ worked into contemporary fashion silhouettes manifest in the collections she has showcased at her debut solo show and across various fashion weeks and exhibits. In August 2010, Nida Azwer exhibited “The Silent Weave” collection, which brought to her design palette, one of the oldest weaves known to the artistic textile world, Jamdani that originates from the Bengali tradition.
Since then Nida has showcased at three PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Weeks and at Fashion Pakistan Week to critical acclaim. Nida Azwer also presented her bridal wear collection entitled the ‘Awadh Court Collection’ at the PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week in December 2011, which marked the first instance where the designer brought her menswear collection to the ramp. Nida also showcased her “Chibhali Collection” at the PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week in October 2012. In 2011, Nida Azwer also showcased her collection entitled “The Running Stitch” at a charity fashion show to much appreciation. The unique collection incorporated the exquisite weave of ‘Kantha’, which stems from West Bengal, in florals and geometric motifs. In July of the same year, Nida diversified her label by launching “Kids by Nida Azwer”, an exclusive line of formal prêt a porter for boys and girls from the ages of three months to twelve years, in addition to exhibiting her latest summer collection.
2012 was a busy year for the designer who presented her semi-formal collection titled “Parinda” at Showcase 2012 and launched a new prêt line “The White Label”in April of the same year. In May 2012, Nida Azwer also held her first solo exhibition in Lahore to much acclaim. In 2013, the Nida Azwer design label made a series of firsts with the introduction of their debut lawn collection in March and the launch of the brand’s first standalone stores in Lahore and Karachi in May 2013. A regular attendee of all major fashion events, Nida Azwer participated the 6th PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week in April 2013 where she showcased the brand’s popular “The William Morgan & Morris Collection”. The Nida Azwer will be showcasing its"The Rangeen Collection” at the Ishq-e-Fashion exhibition in Singapore on 14th September 2013. In a further organic extension, the fashion house also plans to formally launch a prêt a porter Men’s Wear line this year. All clothing and apparel created under the Nida Azwer label is meticulously handworked in Pakistan using only pure fabrics including Irish linen, chiffons, hand-woven silks and brocade. Indeed, Nida Azwer is best known for infusing her label with attention to detail, innovative cuts, silhouettes and tailoring.
Looking forward the last half of year 2013 is also going to be very busy for the designer. From August to October 2013, the brand will be engaging into a series of exhibitions, unveiling of new collections and participation in fashion shows in India, USA, Singapore and the Middle East.
The label is currently available at the Nida Azwer studio in Karachi, at Ensemble in both Lahore and Karachi and at Labels in Faisalabad. Internationally, the brand is available in Dehli at the PFDC, Dubai at Soiree, Ensemble Dubai and in London at Zainab Alam’s boutique.
